From the article: Pros and Cons of Stem Cell Research
In 2009, President Obama overturned previous rulings that disallowed government grant funds to go toward embryonic stem cell research. Now, scientists can apply for NIH funding for stem cell research. Many critics of the previous legislation argued that the US would fall behind in this important area of biomedical research, while those opposed to changing the bill felt that alternatives could be found without compromising the human lives represented by discarded blastocysts. What do you think?
Stem Cells are a Chance
- People are cautious about doing this because its risky and we will be losing lives to figure this out but its a shot. My grandmother was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer 3 years ago and was said she had 3 months to live because of this she got another chance and is alive today. She took a risk but it helps. It is worth it. People should take into consideration that one live lost could save thousands in the future. To me, and my grandmother....this is more worth it than live itself.

For the research of heSC
- Tami points out that Embryonic stem cells are not stable. The fact is that they are perfectly stable, but our understanding of the pathways used by our own heSC is what is not fully researched and understood, which would lead to such problems as she described. Only by a thorough understanding of how heSC form the individual cells that create our livers, lungs, bones, brain etc. can we truly harness the power of of this technology to better the lives of all people, more so possibly than with current use of stem cells.

Dire need of stem cell research
- Whatever others say and talk about, introducing this field of the research is a dire need in curing the various diseases, but it should be used safely.Funding on such type of research should be ensured for the betterment of the human life.

stem cell
- It is very good to share my opinion with this research. The funding must be done. otherwise one cannot ensure the work on stem cells. It increase the human life and disease free human life. I hope this research will give the positive results

Response on stem cell research
- It is very good to share my opinion with this research. THe funding must be done. otherwise one cannot ensure the work on stem cells. So that this may help in future without diseases and can increase humans life.

Against the use of Embryonic Stem Cells
- My daughter had a stroke at 19 weeks gestation by a grade 4 brain bleed. She has had 2 successful stem cell treatments. The first being donated umbilical cord cells and the second being the use of her own cells. She was diagnosed with severe spastic quadiplegia CP, microcephaly, hypotonia and hypertonia as well as failure to thrive. She was never to survive her birth much less walk, talk or have basic functions. She is now walking assisted in a walker at 3 years old. Only because of these treatments. I refused to do embryonic cells because in my research I discovered that there was a 10% chance of tumors that had bone, teeth and hair inside them. Embryonic cells are not stable enough to do what they are intended because think about it people. An embryo can't survive outside the womb WHY? because it is too immature, whereas a full term baby with a healthy cord can. Those cells that are donated by those mothers of healthy babies are helping those of us who don't have healthy children.
