Definition:
The application of nanotechnology in biomedicine for monitoring, repair, construction and control of biological systems on a molecular scale.
Nanomedicine makes use of various different engineered nanoparticle types and encompasses areas such as nanoparticle drug/ vaccine delivery and in vivo imaging. Nanomedicine also refers to the, as of yet unrealized, field of molecular nanotechnology in which nanorobots such as neuro-electronic interfaces and cell repair machines will be used in therapies and surgeries.
