My list of best biotech stocks for 2008 is in, and my top pick for the year is VPHM. I don't use a scientific method to make my choices, but in view of performance this year, including what happened during the huge downturn in the fall, and taking into consideration collaborative projects, pipeline content and focus, ViroPharma Inc. looks very promising to me. Of course, what investors look for in a company might be different for each individual, but an important selling point for me is the type of product under development and whether it's a hot topic right now. The spread of infectious diseases in hospitals has made headlines throughout 2008, and ViroPharma has a product to fight C. difficile. Other picks from my list, ALNY and VRTX, are working in equally hot areas of research.

looks like a foolish pick now
I would like to know her recommendation now. I sold this stock for $12 about 8 weeks ago after holding for 3 years. I had a loss but not as large if I held on to it.
