Plan Expression Systems Early On
Monday November 12, 2007
In the early stages of new product development it's important to look ahead to the future and be very particular about carefully selecting your genetic expression system. Establishing a new product is one thing but being able to scale up production to marketable levels is another challenge facing pharmaceutical companies today. Some expression systems don't lend themselves to large-scale production or ease of isolation and purification following the fermentation process, and changing expression systems later in development will probably require new testing by regulatory agencies, who might consider the new system a new product altogether!
