Investing in biotechnology is widely accepted among financial experts to be a very risky move. Despite hearing stories of the rapid rise and equally dramatic fall of stocks for numerous promising startups, I am compelled to invest my own money in ventures that I see as having strong potential. Perhaps it’s the cocky scientist in me that thinks I can tell a feasible research idea from a pipe dream, or perhaps I’m just a crazy adventurer. Nonetheless, when I’m ready to risk my hard-earned cash on a biotech startup, I will heed the warnings, do my research before deciding which biotech stocks to choose, and keep my portfolio diverse.
