Biotech's Roots

The field of biotechnology is often thought to be a fairly new, rapidly growing area of research and development. Modern discoveries in genetic research have resulted in an exponential increase in the rate of advancement in this fast-paced industry. However, if you look back over time, human-kind has been using biotechnology for thousands of years and a series of progressive, innovative discoveries have brought us to where we are now. Read up on some of the more historical biotech applications to food and crop production in my review of some key early biotechnological practices.
